Duncan MacArthur offers clients straightforward pragmatic actionable advice addressing operational facets of hotels, resorts and mixed use developments. With more than thirty years of experience working with IHG, ITT Sheraton and more recently with individual owners and developers, he has current skills and experience in business planning and start up's, performance improvement, operational reviews and business turnarounds. He both contributes to and leads assignments for developers, owners and operators around the world.
Recently, his roles in assignments have required him to
- develop the Service Standards recommendation and to describe the customer journey and brand touch points in each of rooms, food and beverage and spa within an accommodation led Private Members Club concept for a Mongolian SPV
- analyse the preferred operator option for and then assist in the creation of the business plan for a mixed use resort development in southern England
- mentor the leadership and a senior management team at a charitable foundation in East London including adapting to modern business challenges implementing practices involving people, standards, processes and technology as well as reviewing sales and marketing and introducing a new and effective pricing model
- conduct an organisational review and gap analysis for a hotel in Seoul, South Korea, the production of the requisite Standard Operating Procedures together with action and advice on implementation, supporting the provision of Brand and Service Standards as well as Sales and Marketing strategies
- conduct a feasibility study of a proposed resort in Ghana, West Africa. He was subsequently retained by the owner and development company to further develop the proposal taking into consideration the investment and operating objectives and current needs - the services required, the role of a brand, the relationship with the development company.

He has lived and worked in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
